What is the best way to deal with a Foreclosure in Florida after missing 1 payment?

I’ve just lost my job and cannot even make my first mortgage payment on the home I just bought in Florida. Where should I seek help with this problem?

Each state has somewhat different foreclosure laws. Therefore, you should seek Florida foreclosure help. One of the first things you will probably want to do is speak to one of the bankers who helped draw up the financial loan for the home. It’s usually in everyone’s best interests to try and possibly renegotiate the mortgage terms so that you can keep making monthly payments. However, since you have been unable to afford even your first payment, you may face added obstacles.

Since all foreclosure proceedings in Florida are judicial ones, it’s very important that you obtain the help of a competent attorney, especially if your bank will not renegotiate the terms of your mortgage and you continue to miss payments. Keep in mind that there will be a period of redemption should you be able to start making your payments before the foreclosure is finalized. If the foreclosure goes forward and the court issues an Order of Sale, the actual sale will take place about 20 to 35 days later.
