Question:

Is it ever possible to file an extension on my foreclosure date?

Answer:

If you cannot prevent a foreclosure altogether, delaying the process can give you time to examine your options, formulate a plan, or save money to use toward alternative housing.  There are several ways that you may be able to extend your foreclosure date.  The options may include negotiating with your lender, asking for a loan modification, file court delays with help from a foreclosure attorney, or filing for bankruptcy.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development may also allow you to file an extension to your foreclosure date if you meet certain criteria.  Also, each state has specific foreclosure laws and time lines to follow.  Be sure to examine your state's laws and consult with a foreclosure attorney to determine the best course of action.
