I have about 10 acres of land that I have been hanging onto for over a decade as an investment. Instead of an interested buyer, I had a local government representative contact me saying the land must be given for public benefit, but I want to hang on to. They are offering me far below what I believe is market value. How does this work and can a lawyer help me?

There are often cases of Eminent Domain between land owners and local governments where the  land was compensated far below market value, and the remaining balance is later owed to the owner.
